Events

Masters throwers compete in 5 different single events: hammer, shot put, discus, javelin & weight throw & two multi-events, throws triathlon & throws pentathlon.  In addition masters throwers also compete in the ultra weight pentathlon & super weight especially in the United States where this event originated.

Multi-Events

Throws Triathlon consists of shot put, discus & javelin in that order.  Competition is by gender & in 5-year age groups with weights thrown depending on gender and age group. Each competitor has 3 attempts with the best distance for each event scored by age-graded tables & totaled. Events must be done consecutively on the same day.  This event is not usually held in National or international competitions but is included in Throwers Club meets as it is popular for throwers who do not do hammer or weight.

Throws Pentathlon consists of hammer, shot put, discus, javelin & weight throw in that order.  Competition is by gender & in 5-year age groups with weights thrown depending on gender & age group.  Each competitor has 3 attempts with the best distance for each event scored by age-graded tables & totaled.  Events must done consecutively in the prescribed order on the same day. This event is held in both National & International meets & is a long-standing event for Throwers Club meets.

Ultra Weight Pentathlon consists of five events: Weight, Super Weight, Ultra Weight 1, Ultra Weight 2 & Ultra Weight 3 with weights thrown depending on gender & age group.  Super Weight is normally done in conjunction with the Ultra Weight Pentathlon but is recognized as a separate event.  Throwers Club held the first Ultra Weight Pentathlon in Canada on October 4, 2014 using equipment provided by Jim Wetenhall.
